Event Time and Date
Groups and individuals work together to sort and/or pack produce, non-perishable foods, and household items, preparing them for distribution. Duties may include checking for expiration dates, opened packages and spoilage, labeling cans, and packing bags of food or household items. Other duties may include general cleaning of the area, breaking down boxes etc. This project is fun and rewarding for both adults and children.
- Shoes: Due to safety concerns all volunteers must wear close-toed shoes. No heels, sandals or flip flops.
- Attire: Please dress appropriate to work in a warehouse environment (jeans, t-shirt, appropriate shorts). No low-cut shirts, tank tops or short/running shorts.
- Jackets and Sweaters: In order to maintain product integrity, frozen food projects will take place in a cooler. It is advised that volunteers bring a jacket or sweater.
- Please note that the San Antonio Food Bank does not provide lockers to keep purses, jewelry or other valuables. Please bring only what you need. The Food Bank is not responsible for anything that is lost or stolen.
